The Wednesday Night Catfight #29: 2 Broke Girls

January 25, 2012

Have you seen 2 Broke Girls? If your answer was no, then you should probably give it a shot. It’s probably the raunchiest show I’ve ever seen on network television. It never ceases to surprise me what all they get away with joking about. And both of its leads are pretty funny to boot.

Kat Dennings was doing pretty well for herself on the big screen, prior to 2BG, having in starred in Thor, Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The House Bunny, Charlie Bartlett, and The 40 Year-Old Virgin – where I think she first caught all of our attention. Her co-star, Beth Behrs, a former stage actress, had only a few TV/movie roles prior to her breakout performance on 2BG.

So which would you choose? The choice is yours and yours alone!

The Wednesday Night Catfight #28: Shailene Woodley vs. Sarah Hyland

January 18, 2012

This week’s showdown features two young cuties who are doing pretty well for themselves. First up is Shailene Woodley, whose film The Descendants won Best Motion Picture at the Golden Globes this past weekend. Her opponent, Sarah Hyland, stars in the hit sitcom Modern Family, which picked up a Golden Globe of its own.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #27: The Cast of “The Secret Circle”

December 13, 2011

I’m a big fan of The Vampire Diaries. That show is mindnumbingly awesome in its storytelling. This fall, a new show emerged from the producers of TVD: The Secret Circle. I’ve always loved the witchcraft elements of TVD so I figured a show completely devoted to that from the same team would be automatically awesome. Well, last week I watched all nine episodes that have aired so far. I was pretty disappointed. I think there’s still some potential there and a couple of the episodes were good enough that I’ll probably watch the remainder of the season. Basically the best thing about the show is its cast of attractive females. And it is to them that this edition of the Wednesday Night Catfight is devoted.

Britt Robertson plays the show’s main protagonist and is the most experienced actress of this bunch, having worked steadily the past 11 years. She previously starred in the CW series, Life Unexpected. Phoebe Tonkin is a former model and actress from Australia. She starred in the series about Australian mermaids called H20: Just Add Water, which I believe aired here on Nickelodeon a few years back. Shelley Hennig is a former pageant queen with a mere 465 appearances on Days of Our Lives to her name. (Holy crap.) Jessica Parker Kennedy has a pretty impressive resume with a multiple episode stint on Smallville and a role in this year’s Seth Rogen/Joseph Gordon-Levitt dramedy 50/50 along with a few dozen other credits.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #26: Rachel Nichols vs. Dilshad Vadsaria

August 17, 2011

This week’s competitors include two lovely up and comers.

Rachel Nichols has made appearances in a number of big budget blockbusters, including Star Trek, G.I. Joe, and is starring in the remake of Conan The Barbarian, in theaters this weekend. She was also probably the only reason to watch either Dumb and Dumberer or P2.

Dilshad Vadsaria made her big screen debut this summer with what looks to be a great comedy, 30 Minutes or Less. Prior to that, she could be seen on the small screen in a number of TV roles, most notably starring on the ABC Family series Greek.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #25: Emma Stone vs. Freida Pinto

August 10, 2011

Two of this summer’s biggest stars square off in this week’s Wednesday Night Catfight!

Emma Stone is everywhere this summer, starring in three different films: The Help (in theaters today), Crazy Stupid Love, and Friends with Benefits. The latter two are already in theaters. Next year she stars as Gwen Stacy in the much anticpated first installment of the new Spider-Man franchise.

Freida Pinto got her start in the academy award winning Slumdog Millionaire and currently be seen in what was last week’s biggest box office smash, the surprisingly awesome looking Rise of the Planet of the Apes.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #24: Mila Kunis vs. Olivia Wilde

July 20, 2011

This week we have two of our most popular Babes of the Week squaring off.

Mila Kunis, whose voice you should recognize as that of Meg Griffin from Family Guy, has had a number of hits over the past couple of years. From Forgetting Sarah Marshall to The Book of Eli to Black Swan, she’s cemented herself as one of Hollywood’s best actresses today. Next she can be seen alongside Justin Timberlake in Friends with Benefits, in theaters this weekend.

Olivia Wilde is really hitting her stride as of late and is on the verge of becoming a household name. She took a break from her role on the hit TV show House to film last year’s Tron: Legacy and can be seen in two movies this summer: the big budget sci-fi movie Cowboys and Aliens (due in theaters next week) and the comedy The Change Up alongside Jason Bateman and Ryan Reynolds, released in August.

So which would you choose? The choice is yours and yours alone!

Also, let me know if you have any issues with the new graphics. Because they’re gifs, I’ve found that browsers can occasionally get them out of sync from one another. If it happens frequently, let me know.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #23: Jon’s Birthday Blowout

July 13, 2011

As has become the custom, I have turned over the Babe selecting duties to my pal Jon in honor of his upcoming birthday. So without further adieu, here is his selection with explanations written by him:

Megan Park: I first saw her in a television movie on Lifetime entitled “The Perfect Teacher”. Then, while scanning her IMDb page, I realized that she was in another Lifetime movie that I have seen parts of, entitled “She’s Too Young”. She is also in the ever-popular ABC Family series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”. A young beauty, born on the 24th of this month, 1986.

Missy Peregrym: Every time I see a preview of ABC’s sitcom “Rookie Blue”, I am mesmerized by this attractive starlet. While I have yet to watch an episode, her being in it may convince me to do so. Like Megan Park, she was born in Canada.

Jill Wagner: Finally! Not a Canadian! If you have ever seen an episode of “Wipeout” on ABC, you have probably caught a glimpse of her.

Emmanuelle Vaugier: Back to the Canadians! She is probably best known for her role as Mia on the CBS sitcom “Two and a Half Men”. If she were still on, the show might be better…

Chelsea Kane: You may have seen her on the Disney Channel, but I watched her capture the heart of many men on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”. With a cute, bubbly personality behind the striking good looks, Hollywood better be on the lookout!

Camilla Luddington: It is amazing how one role can lead to somebody becoming well-known. I guess that is what happens when you play Kate Middleton (now Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge) in Lifetime’s “William & Kate”. I have a feeling she will have many opportunities in her future.

Vanessa Hudgens: I will choose to ignore the racy photo scandal and instead look back to her days playing Gabriella Montez in the “High School Musical” franchise. Every time I watch one of the movies, I fall in love all over again…

Caroline Wozniacki: As close as perfect that I can think of for myself. She is a stunningly beautiful 21 year old from Odense, Denmark. She is also the #1 ranked tennis player in the world. So Caroline, if you are reading this, I hope you enjoyed your 21st birthday this past Monday. Also, you can answer my marriage proposal at any time, with “yes” being preferred!

Michael’s note: If my calculations are correct, this post marks the fourth time Vanessa Hudgens has been named one of the Blowhole Babes of the Week, making her the only individual to reach that accomplishment to date.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #22: The Babes of Harry Potter

July 6, 2011

This week’s selection comes from the final chapter in one of the greatest sagas of all time. All of these babes can be seen one final time (within the context of the Wizarding world, that is) when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 hits theaters next weekend.

So which would you choose? The choice is yours and yours alone.

The Wednesday Night Catfight #21: Birthday Week Babe Blowout

June 29, 2011

At some point between the time this is posted and the time I post next week’s WNCF match-up, I will celebrate my birthday. This time last year, I nominated the first ever two-time Babe of the Week. Two-time is nothing nowadays. So in honor of this year’s occasion, I have decided to compile a list of my favorite Babes from the past year. I had intended to go all out and make each of these pics a link to a larger picture with reasons for why each gal was chosen. However, after making 8 of the graphics, my computer nearly committed suicide. I pulled it back from the ledge but it’s still a bit wonky (a word not enough people use often enough) so I’m taking what I can get from it here. Instead, if you hover your mouse over any of the pics, it will inform you of that Babe’s name and when she was previously mentioned on the site. Good enough. (As far as the acronyms are concerned: BBOTW = Blowhole Babe of the Week, which is the bottom portion of the Hall of Babes page; WNCF = Wednesday Night Catfight which is the top portion of the Hall of Babes page.) As you’ll see, this marks the third occasion for the majority of the Babes. Also, as you can imagine, this set-up was originally planned to be a pyramid of babes. Formatting’s a wench, so now it’s a stairwell of babes. Enjoy.

So which ones would you choose? The choices are yours and yours alone!

The Wednesday Night Catfight #20: Selena Gomez vs. Leighton Meester
