Another Fairytale Brought to Screen

December 16, 2011

The teaser trailer for “Jack the Giant Killer” was recently released.  It doesn’t look bad. I wonder if it will be strictly based on the original fairytale or if this will be a darker take on the tale?  I’d say from the looks of this video, Brian Singer might be going with option B.  Thoughts?

Up-coming Movies

August 9, 2011

Here are a few movies that are coming to theaters soon that I thought we should take a look at. Some are coming out fairly soon and others not till next year just though I give you a sneek-peek.

Dolphin Tale September 2011

You thought Free Willy made you cry? What if Free Willy lost his tail fin in a crab trap and was no longer able to swim? This is the case in the adorable true story about a dolphin named Winter who is saved by a determined young boy. The movie takes you on the journey of getting an artificial tail for Winter and teaching her how to swim again along with many other hardships, including a hurricane. It stars new comer Nathan Gambee, Harry Connick Jr, Ashley Judd, Kris Kristofferson, of course Morgan Freeman, and the unbelievable Winter the dolphin as herself. Check this inspirational movie out and find out the true power of friendship and the determination of love. It comes out September 23rd. Your heart will melt, I promise.

The Three Musketeers October 2011

I don’t know about you but I wanted to be a musketeer after I saw the 1993 version. If you were pleased with the 90s musketeers, let me just say awoooga!! (Not quite sure if thats how you’d spell that). There is a lot of, um, “sword-fighting” that the ladies will not want to miss. Now, now guys theres some 1600 eye candy for you too. Its bound to be a lot more actionpacked by the looks of the trailer. But it has the same plot. The hot-headed young D’Artagnan along with three former legendary, but now down on their luck, Musketeers must unite and defeat a beautiful double agent and her villainous employer from seizing the French throne and engulfing Europe in war. It stars Logan Lerman asD’Artagnan, Juno Temple as Queen Anne, Milla Jovovich as M’lady De Winter, Orlando Bloom as a bad guy?, and many more. Who could go wrong with hot guys, hot girls, history, and sword-fighting? This is going to be great! It comes out October 21st.

John Carter March 2012

What if I told you that your Uncle has disappeared? Where do think he would have gone? Then what if I told you that he was transported somehow to Mars, because there are people there who need a savior and he is the only one who can help? You’d think I was crazy right? That is the exact plot of Disney’s new futuristic hero movie John Carter. It is based off the classic novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, which has captivated film-makers for . Looks pretty awesome and that Taylor Kitsch is definately something to look at for sure. Before I go into who else is in it let me just ask has Disney been making more and more adult-geered movies lately or is it just me? Anyway it stars: Taylor Kitsch, Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong, Willem Dafoe, Lynn Collins, Thomas Haden Church, and more. Man is this a male-dominated movie! I guess they did always say Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. Haha. But seriously it comes out March 9, 2012.

Battleship May 2012

This movie is based on of what I can only assume is the board game. I wasn’t able to get a youtube video of the trailer so you can go to imdb.com to watch it. Basicly, it seems like another Battle: Los Angeles or District 9. Confusing, right? I thought it would be exactly like the board game and they would base the plot off some world war or some made-up war, but I was sorely mistaken. It looks good don’t get me wrong. Throw Alexander Skarsgard in any movie and I watch it. I’m just not sure. I guess we’ll have to find out. Unfortunately we’ll have to wait a while to find out. It doesn’t come to theaters till May 18, 2012. It also stars: Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Taylor Kitsch (another hottie of choice man-meat), and Rihanna.

Brave June 2012

Pixar and Disney are at it again. Creating another Scottish character. This movie sort of reminds me of across between Braveheart and Tangled with a little Shrek on the side. But it looks good don’t get me wrong. I love me some Pixar. The movie follows aScottish princess named Merida whose strictly prohibited love for archery creates problems for her parents kingdom. It also has these little blue floaty things that the trailer doesn’t explain at all. I’m pretty sure they have something to with the plot, but I have no clue. It looks like most Pixar/Disney films; fun, adventurous with a heartfelt meaning. The trailer doesn’t offer much so all I can say is it looks interesting, very interesting. Voices are lended by: Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Kevin Mckidd, and Craig Ferguson. It comes out June 22, 2012.

Hunk of the Week the big 5-0: Chris Evans

August 7, 2011

I’m a nerd. I openly admit that- aint no shame in it. What is great about being a nerd right now is that the world is kinda embracing its nerdier side. Nerd-tasticness is everywhere and one place that has really jumped on the bandwagon is Hollywood, movie makers to be more specific. One comic book made into a feature length film after another and now Captain America gets his time in the limelight.

Playing the comic icon is Chris Evans and if he doesn’t look like a hero I don’t know who does.

You may recognize Chris from such movies as Push, Scott Pilgrim vs the World, The Losers, and Fantastic 4.  One thing is for sure, this actor is use to playing larger than life roles so Captain America is something i’m sure he can handle. I want to see it–do you?

Hunk of the Week #47 Shia LaBeouf

July 5, 2011

In honor of the fourth of July, this weeks hunk is a movie star who’s films really pack a punch in the firework/explosion department. It’ s Shia LaBeouf

You no doubt recognize him for his big screen success in movies like The Greatest Game Ever Played (a personal favorite), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Disturbia, Eagle Eye, and or course the Transformers Movie Franchise.
Shia did is own transformation going from a somewhat geeky twerp on Disney’s (You know how we love our Disney) Even Stevens to a action movie, bad ass, heartthrob.

For some reason guys don’t seem to want to show the LaBeouf much love perhaps they are just jealous of the fact that he is rumored to have hooked up with co-star Megan Fox during the filming of the Transformers movies. Fellas don’t hate the playa hate the game.

If you want to see him now you’re in luck. He starring in the newest installment in the transformers universe- Transformers: Dark of the Moon  premiered June 29 and in theaters now. The transformers movies aren’t known or attended for their depth of  plot or dialogue but if you like to see shit get blow to smitherines than this is the movie for you. Michael Bay does action sequences better than anyone else–and that’s about it.

So there you have it. Your Hunk of the Week: Shia LaBeouf
