I could just say, “This week’s Babe is Jessica Alba,” and leave it at that. I think her beauty speaks for itself. But instead, I’ll ramble.
One interesting thing I found about Ms. Alba is that one of her first acting gigs was a recurring role on the Nickelodeon series The Secret World of Alex Mack. I don’t actually remember her on there, but man I loved that show. She was also in the movie P.U.N.K.S. which was frequently aired on the Disney Channel (I don’t believe it was an actual DCOM). Given my love for all things ’90s, she wins me over right there. But of course, you may have also seen her in one of her other films. Perhaps you’ve heard of Fantastic Four, Sin City, Into the Blue, Good Luck Chuck, The Love Guru, The Killer Inside Me, or Valentine’s Day. Just to name a few. She can next be seen in Robert Rodriguez’s Grindhouse-esque film Machete, which opens in theaters this Friday.
This week’s hunk is one of my all-time favorite girlhood into womenhood crushes. You may not have known his name but no girl wouldn’t recognize that adorable face. You might have seen him with really long hair or no hair at all, a little stubble or clean shaven, punk rocker, preppy, dirty. clean cut, glasses or no glasses. Regardless of the look he’s rocking, he’s hot.
It’s Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Depending on how old you are you might know him as the little orphan who could see angels, Roger, in 1994’s Angels in the Outfield. Fast forward as few years and there he is again as the goofy son, Tommy Solomon, in a family of aliens relocated to earth in the popular TV Sitcom 3rd Rock from the Sun.
During that time he also made a little, kinda small time, Taming of the Shrew inspired teen movie called 10 Things I Hate About You. Maybe you’ve heard of it or seen it. Of course you did. It was so wildly popular that they turned it into an ABC Family Sitcom.
I absolutely love this guy, he’s just the guy next door, cute, funny, maybe a bit nerdy but totally lovable guy that girls pray for. He already had me.I was already hooked but then he went and made the most brutally honest film about modern relationships i’ve even seen, (500) Days of Summer. If you haven’t seen it, see it.
His most recent blockbuster hit is this summer’s Inception, director’s Christopher Nolan’s latest creation. Joseph stars in this” love it or hate it” film with week 14 HOTW Leonardo DiCaprio. Joseph is quickly becoming the next big name Hollywood action/romantic leading man. It is rumored that Joseph will be working with Christopher Nolan again in Next Batman Movie as the Riddler. Definitely one to mark on your calendar.
Tamara Drewe, the former comic strip by Posy Simmonds based on Thomas Hardy’s book Far from the Maddening Crowed, was later turned into a full graphic novel in 2007, and now will be release as a film in October.
Whats so new about this? Nothing. Except comic book films usually have people with super powers or people who dress-up like they have super powers(Kick Ass reference). This makes me all the more interested in seeing Tamara Drewe, because something about these characters(who do not have, superpowers, wear spandex, come from an alternate universe, and do not date Betty or Veronica) must have intrigued filmmakers enough to produce this movie. That gives me good vibes about this film, plus the trailer is very scenic.
Yet another addition to the Recently Legal Mickey Mouse Club. It’s a swank VIP lounge, I’m sure.
As I mentioned in last week’s Babe post, I spent last week in Disney World, so this a very fitting choice this week, as our Babe of the Week is one of the Disney Channel’s premiere stars. You can turn on that channel at any time and you’ll probably see Demi Lovato starring in her own show, in one of her three Disney Channel Original Movies, or belting a tune in one of her music videos. Or if nothing else, you’ll see her in a commercial for one of these things. Disney knows how to promote.
Speaking of promotion, I kid you not, every single bus we rode around the parks last week had a huge ass poster for Camp Rock 2 on it. I couldn’t get anywhere without Demi and the Jonas Brothers peering down at me.
Ready for the last rendition of Which Blowhole Am I? First I’ll give you the answer to the last post. If you guessed Thomasa, then you should be a part of the FBI cause that is correct. Now, this last one might/should be really easy for you four or five people who have guessed. But remember I have plenty of tricks up my sleeves so don’t assume that the right Blowhole is last one left.
Which Blowhole Am I?
I have a slight obsession with owls.
I admittedly make out with my cat, occasionally.
Stop-motion animation is my thing.
I have a dark side, a very dark side, almost evil.
This week’s blowholehunk is from the semi-way back. You probably remember him as Benny Rodriguez that adorable baseball hero from The Sandlot (1993). His real name is Mike Vitar and he was everygirls’ first movie star crush.
Surprisingly, he hasn’t been in too many movies. He’s done bit roles in shows like “NYPD Blue” and “Brooklyn Bridge.” Though he’s mostly known for being in one of the classic kids movies of the 90s, but he was also a part of The Mighty Duck movie franchise too, playing Luis Mendoza.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any up-to-date info on Mike Vitar. He has pretty much dropped off the face of the earth. According to imdb.com he is working in Hollywood as a firefighter, but that was of 2002. Maybe we should put his picture on some telephone poles or something. Wherever he is and whatever he’s doing, he will always be remembered as good old Benny from The Sandlot.
Cake is good, cake is great, but cupcakes can be even better. Why? Because they taste just as good as cake, but are convenient like candy due to their hand-held compactness. I’ve found a brand new appreciation for the art of cupcakes (and cakes) while watching TLC’s DC Cupcakes, and while I have never eaten any Georgetown Cupcakes I can honestly say watching them being made makes me daydream about them.
Once again Youtube will not function on my computer, but luckily I was able to watch this through another player; however, the only videos I can post on here are Youtube which is a conundrum. So, hopefully I’m posting the right one. You tell me. Regardless, I am excited to see this film, it looks like a winner. thoughts?
