1.) It’s not September – Being the first month of a new school year causes September to creep by at a terribly slower pace than most months (January also suffers from being the first month back to school). Once you get past September, the rest of the semester goes by in the blink of an eye.
2.) Season Change – Orange leaves > green leaves. And call me crazy, but the outdoors smell better when the leaves are falling. The weather is also a nice, neutral temperature: not blazing hot like some summer days and not yet freezing cold like in the winter.
3.) Halloween – Halloween doesn’t get as much love from the masses as Christmas, which is a shame. The holiday specials/movies are just as good, if not better (I kind of prefer the darker tone of Halloween specials as opposed to the uplifiting nature of Christmas specials). IMO, a lot of the magic of Christmas gets slashed away once you figure out the deal with Santa Claus. But Halloween continues to impress. I haven’t dressed up in a costume in many years, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying trips to the seasonal Halloween stores; not to mention this is the one time of year that I enjoy going to Target and Wal-Mart just to peruse (perouse?) the holiday section.
Sometime soon I’ll post a blog counting down the top Halloween specials/movies from my youth. Spoiler alert: I’ve never seen “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” so don’t get pissed when I don’t include it.
